Syngenta
In the year 2000, the chemical and pharmaceutical groups Novartis and AstraZeneca spun off their agricultural activities and merged them to form the new company Syngenta. Based in Basel, Syngenta is the new world leader in plant protection and the number three in the seeds business.
Since today's market demands greater focussing of activities, the Foundation supported the decision, announced in 1999, to spin off the agribusiness division of Novartis. The Sandoz Family Foundation is just as committed to the new organisation as it is to Novartis.
Pierre Landolt represents the Sandoz Family Foundation in the Syngenta board of directors.
