Atokalpa
The Sandoz Family Foundation wanted to build a genuine industrial facility capable of producing the best timepieces completely independently, and therefore decided to acquire the Atokalpa company in December 2000. Located in Alle, in the Jura, the cradle of precision turning, Atokalpa has long specialized in the production of gear-trains, pinions and micro-gears which constitute the moving parts of a mechanical watch. Since 2005, Atokalpa has also produced all the elements included in the escapement and the regulating organ, i.e. some twenty elements which together make up the escape wheel, the pallet, the roller, the balance and the balance spring.
Manufacturing these components requires total control of a set of operations that include cutting, turning, milling, rolling, surface treatment, heat treatment, assembly, as well as drawing and laminating the balance spring.
